4 Ok's for a Business Break

So this thing happened to me. It wasn't intentional and it kind of snuck up on me and I felt all kinds of horrible but I learned a valuable lesson that I'm going to share. I fell off with my business (don't forget I'm a Director in my career but that's no excuse) and I felt like crap. I immediately fixed that feeling and got back to this very moment now. Here are 4 reasons why you need to take a break from business and 4 things I got from it.

1. PTO from your Biz. Paid Time Off from your business or passion project is a MUST. No one works around the clock at their job so why should you. I know, I know, you have goals, if you don't work, you don't eat, sleep-what's that...I know all of that but isn't that selfish to not properly take care of your mind and body, the very vessel needed to run your business. It is ok to take a break. I promise. I fell into my break because God slowed me down and made me but I often thought about taking it anyway.

2. Clean Your Desk. Yess take a break from your business but don't leave your desk a mess before you leave hunny! At work, you would never take a vacay without making sure your tasks are completed or setup in the proper hands for completion (at least I wouldn't) and you can't do that with your business either. Do me a favor and don't even go look at my inconsistent tweet game LOL. No one should know that you're gone, away getting your entire life. The doors to your business should always remain open. Do what you have to do to make sure you're scheduling out things, batch creating and automating. Systems are the key to biz and well-oiled machines!

3. Goals AF. Yes I'm saying it's ok to take time off but have a goal sis! Know that if you're burned out or feeling overwhelmed than your step away should do something to fix those feelings. Girl don't get lazy and comfortable with not posting on social media or to your blog. Have a goal during your time off to renew or get inspired or make some changes. Maybe hire a new coach, take a new course, do something to level up. Walk away with something in mind. What's the goal?

4. Grace. Yess again, I know this doesn't feel natural. You're a hustler and you're growing your baby and you haven't reached where you want yet to be talking about time off. Trust me, I know the feeling all too well. I also know that "sometimes pushing through exhaustion makes things worse, slow down and breathe" (shoutout to Ya Girl Brittany @xobritdear). Take your moment and extend some grace to yourself. This time off is well deserved. Don't beat yourself up for being HUMAN. Use your goal and be gracious. While I was neglecting Twitter and having writers block, I was still doing some major site updates and cleaning house. I wasn't just going on watching Netflix and taking a hella break. Be ok to be ok and quit thinking that someone is judging you especially if they aren't your clients or bringing in any coins. You got this and you deserve the slow down.

Plan some time off (not like a year) maybe a month at best, know that you're not a failure or falling behind because "everyone" deserves a break but make it meaningful. Walk back into work like:

Until next time,
