Writer’s Block, Winter Blues, People Getting on Your MF’N Nerves can all leave you feeling blah!!! I recently shared a conversation with a friend about feeling super uninspired and blocked. Here are a few of my current favorite things that I drive inspiration from. After all, inspiration is the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative. Einstein said it best, "Creativity is contagious, pass it on".
Audiobooks & Podcasts: My favorite Audiobook of 2017 was definitely “The Hate You Give” & Gabrielle Union’s “We’re Going to Need More Wine”, my fav podcasts included “2 Dope Queens” “Essence Yes, Girl, and Black Girl Boss Podcast.
Being a Kid Again: (Cartoons, Disney Shows, etc) (favorites:Fuller House, Raven’s Home, Grownish, throwback Nickelodeon: Hey Arnold, Rugrats, Doug) (in my mind I swear I can draw)
Cooking: (fav dishes: sauteed kale with garlic & parmesan, crawfish & shrimp etouffee, my take on an Orange Ginger Glow Smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe)
Makeup: (my form of art therapy): Current fav product (Mario Badescu Rose Water, Laura Mercier Oil Free Primer & Lip Bar Primadonna lipstick)
TV Shows: When I can catch up, I try!! Currently crushing over: The Chi, Shameless, Jane the Virgin, & Riverdale...I’ve had many nights of sparked writing inspiration from binge watching.
Writing: Journal Junkie Here!!! If I find myself stuck, I try to unplug from working and just write whatever comes mind….that results in short stories, blog posts, ideas, etc.
Working Out: As much as I love Spin (3-4 times per week), I feel super inspired when I’m weight training with my fiance. Maybe because he’s all strong and stuff but definitely a different feeling of inspiration. The adrenaline of bench pressing or squatting 250lbs. Ok maybe not 250 but I’m learning.
Photography: My first love was the camera...so when I’m searching for a bit of inspiration, I find it in looking at old pictures and taking new ones. I’m not talking about selfies either, I have some pretty dope shots in my catalog.
Until next time,
